Indians News · New Protocols For Athletic Events

The Copley-Fairlawn City Schools Board of Education adopted a resolution authorizing extracurricular athletic activities for the 2020-2021 school year. We are greatly appreciative for the support of our school board and central office administration.

In order to provide the safest environment possible for conducting athletic events, the following document will address several changes and new protocols that must be strictly adhered to in order for our seasons to continue. These new protocols and procedures are in place so that Copley-Fairlawn City Schools can operate our athletic program in full compliance with the Ohio Department of Health Order. It is understandable that these new expectations  may not seem fair or reasonable, but compliance is an expectation. There has been months of work put in by our administration, coaches and student-athletes to get to this point- resuming play on the field. We must remain focused on health and safety as our first priority. Losing focus on that priority puts our seasons in jeopardy of being shut down.

Please take time to familiarize yourself with all recommended and mandatory requirements of the Ohio Department of Health document Youth, Collegiate, Amateur, Club and Professional Sports

Compliance

  • All athletic competitions and practices will be conducted in accordance with the orders and guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health.
  • Each athletic event will have a compliance officer assigned to monitor and enforce all aspects of the current health order.
  • The compliance officer has the full authority to remove any spectators not in compliance with the conditions set forth in the current health order, including stopping any contest during which a spectator or participant refuses to comply with any aspect of the current order.

Game Play Protocols

  • All athletic events will follow the OHSAA/NFHS rules modifications and protocols to ensure the safety of all athletes, coaches, game personnel, and spectators/community.
