Indians News · Davis and Yarbrough named Player of the Year


The Best of Greater Akron All-Star Prep Awards ceremony was held on Thursday June 18th. Due to the coronavirus pandemic the ceremony this year was held virtually and this year’s winners were announced via youtube. During this year’s ceremony it was announced that the boys soccer player of the year is Josh Davis and the wrestler of the year is Marlon Yarbrough.

Josh Davis is a four year letter winner for the Copley Indians boys soccer team. He was recognized this year by the Akron Touchdown Club as the boys soccer player of the year. In addition, Josh earned first team all-Ohio, first team all-region and first team all-district. Davis is headed to Cleveland State University next year to continue his academic and athletic career.

Marlon Yarbrough is an 11th grade, three year letter winner for the Copley Indians wrestling team. He has been recognized on the national stage as an all-American at the Fargo national invitational. Yarbrough was also selected as the most valuable wrestler of the Suburban League this year and was a state qualifier.
